Recently more and more Chinese soybean crushing plants are dehulling first, then extracting the oil.
Hull is a by-product of modern dehulling extraction process. Hull is about 8%wt of soybean and makes up 10% volume of soybean. It composes mainly of fiber and cell membrane. A though the NDF and ADF in hulls reach as high as 67% and 50% respectively, its lignin content is less than 2% (NRC, 1,996), As the result, hull digestibility is as high as 90% (Quicke and so on, 1959). It is reported that in 27 hours, nylon strands digestion rate reached 90.3%; and between 36-48 hours, the nylon strands can be completely digested (Hsu and so on, 1,987; Belyea and so on, 1,989). |
